Early on in my career, I got involved with instruments and controls for production facilities. I loved working with this kind of technology. It is why I continued down a controls-related career path. Now I want to use my controls and instrumentation skills to help your business. Instruments (aka sensors) are used closely with control systems. They are what provide the input that the control system then reacts to and sends outputs to adjust the process and bring it back into control. This system is called a control loop. Control loops are used in just about all electronic equipment. This is why the other things I do are all related to this service. It’s a highly technical field and I can help you navigate it.
Building controls are a particular specialty of mine. I have been working as a building controls engineer for the last 11 years. I am skilled at working with Honeywell EBI, Siemens Apogee Insight, Johnson Controls Metasys, and various Trane and Carrier systems. When it gets down to the nuts and bolts these different brands of systems all work in the same manner. I’m sure I could also help with other systems I have not listed here. I am able to design, install, maintain, or service your building control system.

Process and machine controls are another area I have a lot of experience in. During my career, I have designed, built, and serviced all kinds of control panels. This is another area where my instrumentation skills are valuable. I can troubleshoot the whole system from sensor to the HMI (human machine interface) or computer. Motor drives (or VFDs) are also often used with control systems. Motor drives are an independent control system that is used to control motors. The use of a motor drive can save equipment wear, reduce energy consumption, and increase productivity. Often PLCs (programmable logic controllers) are also used in control systems. I have quite a bit of experience working with these too.

Control systems can be expensive to install and maintain but they can also be cost-effective and a boon to the business if scaled to the proper size for the application.
