Windows 8 PC
Recently E-Bob Technical Services helped a lady with her Window 8 PC. She said it wasn’t starting up properly. When I got there I was soon able to determine her Wi-Fi was not auto-connecting when her PC started up. E-Bob fixed this problem quickly. I also mentioned to her that Microsoft Windows 8.1 will no longer be supported in a couple of years and that E-Bob Technical Services could help her upgrade to Windows 10 whenever she was ready.
Alexa App
The client also said she would like the Amazon Alexa app loaded on to her PC. She is using an Amazon Echo which E-Bob is familiar with because he has two Echo Dots in his home. There is no Alexa app for Windows 8.1 so I showed her how to get to her Alexa settings on the internet. To get to your Alexa settings on the web, use your Amazon login credentials at https:\\alexa.amazon.com. She had questions about some of the Alexa features so we worked on that for while too.
Printer Ink
While discussing her computer system the topic of her printer, which was sitting right next to me, came up. She mentioned that she wasn’t using it because it needed a ink again. She said she always had to buy ink cartridges for it. I told her how we were having the same problem in my house until I bought an Epson EcoTank. With a family of 5 we were using a large amount of ink in our old printer. Now, over a year goes by before I have to add black ink (the other colors are still good) and the ink cost less than I was paying for 1 old ink cartridge. She asked me to help her pick a printer to order that would suit her needs, which is what E-Bob did.
Old computer, smart home device, and printer all in one call, I would say that was a pretty productive visit.
